Recent & Upcoming Work

Ray recently completed a tree survey of over 2000 trees for the township of Totowa, New Jersey.

"Wonderful people in a historic part of Passaic County. Discovered great old trees, and the best sugar cookies and coffee at Deb Pam bakery. When I needed early morning breakfast I made sure to stop at Cyndia’s or Totowa bagels. The view from the heights of the Passaic Valley on clear mornings was quite something. "

About

Our Story

Following a 25 year business career as a sales director with AT&T, Ray turned his passion for the environment into a full-time vocation as a licensed arborist and arbor consultant.

In 2006, Ray wrote the ordinance establishing the Dumont Shade Tree Commission, and has since received arboriculture training to become fully accredited through the NJDEP Forestry and New Jersey Shade Tree Federation as a Licensed Tree Expert (NJLTE#710). In 2013 he wrote an ordinance requiring a permit for removal of any private tree in the Dumont. In addition to several thousand inspections of borough trees he has conducted since 2006, over the past 12 years Ray has inspected and assessed the health and condition of every tree under this permit process, over 1200 trees total.

As a licensed arborist, Ray has expanded his scope to lead several townships with their tree inventory, assessment, and planning. Ray is currently the arborist for the borough of Demarest, as well as the arborist for Demarest Nature Center, where he provides care and stewardship for 55 acres of protected woodlands.
